METRIXDATA 360 & SOFTWARE ASSET MANAGEMENT (SAM)?

When MetrixData 360 first started out, we were focused on saving our clients money by negotiating the best software contracts we could for them. We used an approach that was unique (at the time), looking at deployment data and technical roadmaps to figure out what our clients needed vs. what software vendors wanted to sell them. As are result of the demonstrated success in saving our clients 20%, 30% and sometimes even 40% or more, clients would come back and ask us to defend them in software audits, trusting our proven expertise in software licensing.

It was when we began to work in software audits that we realized the biggest rewards (savings) came from the things that were the hardest to do. We also realized that nobody wanted to do those things, as they were time consuming and, well to be honest, almost impossible to do.

MetrixData 360 spent a lot of time solving these complex problems for our clients, sometimes we didn’t even know why or what we were doing… but we had the tenacity and focus on getting our clients the best results and making sure they knew their inventory and license use better than the vendors themselves.

Types of Solutions We Offer

Many of our clients work with us on a project basis. They come to us with a specific problem around a single vendor and we work with them exclusively on that. This could be a Microsoft EA renewal, an IBM ILMT-based Audit or a need to implement a SAM Tool such as ServiceNow SAM Pro.

Managed SAM Service

Some of our clients simply do not have the in-house resources or recognize that the resources they do have, do not posses the needed expertise to deliver these services effectively. For these clients, we developed our managed SAM Service, where we deliver an entire SAM program for them. They just hand it over to us and we take care of it for them.

Active Directory Tool

We also found that when we were working with our various clients that we were solving the same problems over and over – and we were doing it manually. I’m sure you can imagine that realization was painful. As such, we invested in developing proprietary toolsets and algorithms that became key in our ability to do more for clients – more effectively and efficiently than ever before. Solving the biggest challenges for our clients are the ones that yield the biggest returns. Our Active Directory tool is a great example of this.

Every audit we were involved in, the very first demand from the auditors was a view of client’s Active Directory – which would painstaking then need to be reviewed line by line to ensure erroneous data wasn’t included for the auditors to count as licences. Now our logic and resulting automation (algorithms) allows us to accomplish this phase of any audit in roughly 10% of the time we used to spend to determine what is licensable. Manual errors and/or oversights are also eliminated as a factor thanks to this investment.

As we grew, we learned that SAM required many different skills. To name just a few: inventory, data analysis, legal reviews of software contracts, understanding IT architecture, vendor program changes, expertise on the different software companies like Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, SAP, VMWare, etc. It is impossible to have an internal resource that possess knowledge in all of these areas.

Mike Austin leads the delivery team at MetrixData 360. Mike brings more than 15 years of Microsoft licensing experience to his clients’ projects. He assists companies, from Fortune 500 to organizations with as few as 500 employees, with negotiations of Microsoft Enterprise Agreements (EA), Premier Support Contracts, and Select Agreements. He has a vast amount of experience across multiple industries including financial services, high tech, manufacturing, media, health care, government, and retail. In addition to helping negotiate contracts, he assists clients with creating and implementing software asset management processes to prevent over-purchasing of licenses and ensures terms and conditions reflect actual usage.

Previously, Mike was employed by Microsoft for more than 8 years as a member of the global sales execution team responsible for the development of Software Assurance (SA) benefits. With Microsoft, Mike successfully negotiated more than a billion dollars in new and renewal EAs. Mike has also negotiated legal terms and conditions for all software agreements, developed Microsoft’s best practices for global account management, and was awarded Microsoft’s Gold Star Award in 2003 and Circle of Excellence in 2008 for his contributions.

JAY BISHOP

Jay Bishop heads up the sales team as the Director of Customer Success at MetrixData 360. He spent more than 10 years in software specific distribution sales and negotiating roles, and was exposed to hundreds of publisher licensing schemes and metrics. Developing a true understanding of how software vendors pad their bottom lines on the backs of their clients, Jay shifted his professional efforts to helping end users save money and control, and cut their software spend. After leading enterprise software teams for multiple international large system integrators, he still felt troubled that while he was able to save organizations money, those resellers were always more interested in how he could get clients to spend any savings on more software or other IT related products and services.

When the opportunity arose to work with the team at MetrixData 360, who focus on saving organizations big dollars on their software requirements and not having to push other products, it couldn’t have been a better fit. Jay’s focus is now on developing relationships with clients and only introducing them to products and services that offer massive return on investment, keeping money in the pockets of the organizations he works with and not in those of the software publishers.

Ben Tight

Ben Tight joined MetrixData 360 in 2017 as our Director of Software and Online Solutions. He has worked as an IT Innovator, leader, and Project Manager for over 17 years. Skilled in software development, business strategy, and contractor management, Ben has become an invaluable asset to MetrixData 360. Ben has designed, built, and launched all our in-house tools, tailoring them for faster, more thorough aggregation of your data sets.

Before joining the MetrixData team, Ben directed and managed several projects worth $10+ million and spanning the globe. His contributions to the automation sector have earned Ben the Silver Stevie Award, and garnered an Innovative Software Award for his team in 2007.

Ben has now brought his expertise in process automation data management to MetrixData 360 to help businesses get a clearer picture of their SAM environment, and save money on their licensing needs.

Rawia has worked with some of our largest customers on the totality of their Microsoft licensing needs. What makes our clients Rawia superfans is that Rawia knows that no two client IT infrastructure challenges are the same and she customizes her approach with each client to help them save money on SQL Server Licensing.
